Another Air Max Plus model joins the “Carabiner” theme. This time, it’s the first Nike Air Max Plus silhouette, commonly known as the Tuned 1! This Nike Air Max Plus “Black Purple Gold Carabiner” mixes Purple and Gold atop a Black mesh base. A carabiner adds to the theme inspired by hiking adventures. Bit of a fiery colourway this one!
Many Air Max models dominated the first half of the year thanks to the Air Max Day celebration back in March. But the party doesn’t end there as Nike brings out more Air Max releases halfway through the year. Plenty of releases aside from the Nike Air Max 1 and Air Max 90 headline July’s releases.
The Air Max footwear line got a major upgrade in 1998 with the arrival of the Tuned Air Max. Designed Sean McDowell, the Nike Air Max Plus utilised Tuned Air Max units in the heel and forefoot. The difference between regular Air Max and Tuned Air Max is the rubber hemispheres covering the bag. This results in a more supportive ride while keeping the shoe stable as the rubber doesn’t compress as much as exposed bubbles.
Mesh makes up the upper while wavy TPU overlays provide more reinforcement to the body.
This Nike Air Max Plus “Black Purple Gold Carabiner” features a Black mesh base with hints of Purple and Gold. No this is not inspired by the Los Angeles Lakers, but a carabiner accessory hanging on the laces possibly pays tribute to hiking.
Purple and Gold gradients appear on the TPU panels as well as the rigid midfoot shank.
Keep an eye out for this release in July 2022. The Nike Air Max Plus 3 also released in a similar colourway.
