A classic makeover lands on a classic trainer. The Nike Air More Uptempo arrives in a clean and simple colour blocking in this “Midnight Navy White” rendition. While the Air More Uptempo continues to release in a somewhat occasional manner, fans of the large “AIR” always feel delighted with new colourways!
As one of the most popular Air Max basketball kicks around, the Air More Uptempo packs a notable design feature. The large “AIR” lettering replaces the usual Swoosh on the sides; relocating the Swooshes right on the toe and the heel. This new colourway hides the “AIR” so the Swoosh can stand out, still a pretty impressive colourway overall.
1996 was a special year for both Nike and Jordan Brand; various sneaker tech emerged and the Zoom Air technology just came out a year before. The Nike Air More Uptempo is one of the more eye-catching sneakers of the time. Designed by Wilson Smith, the shoe literally features more air – the midsole running full-length; and then the large “AIR” panel covering the majority of the upper.
The shoe itself is a walking billboard for Nike’s revolutionary cushioning technology, but Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen put the icing on the cake when he rocked the pair for most of the 1996 NBA regular season.
This Nike Air More Uptempo ’96 “Midnight Navy White” flaunts an all-white leather upper with hints of Midnight Navy. Midnight Navy hues cover the Nike Swoosh logos on the toe, heel, and multiple ones on the outsole.
Air Max pillars on the midsole also don Midnight Navy.
A clean pair of Uptempos suitable for a fresh summer sneaker rotation. Keep an eye out for its release in April 2022.
