This new signature skateboard shoe from Nike may be leaning towards performance, but it boasts an underrated style inspired by 90’s hoops shoes.
2013 Thrasher Skater of the Year Ishod Wair finally gets his well-deserved signature shoe after rocking the SB Dunks previously. His signature skate shoe combines elements of classic basketball shoes while keeping it suitable for skateparks. This “Pistachio” colourway goes for a Grinch-like makeover similar to the Nike Kobe 6s.
While most of the attention on the brand’s SB division is on the Nike SB Dunk, 2022 unveiled something new. The Nike SB Ishod Wair is the latest signature shoe from Nike SB, and its design aspects make it a versatile footwear choice.
Leather and suede comprise the upper of this low-top shoe. Rubber side panels provide extra reinforcement and allow enough ventilation to keep the feet dry. The TPU mudguard stabilises the shoe for more support.
The reverse Swoosh on the rear took inspiration from the Nike Air Darwin, a 90s basketball trainer. A mini Swoosh resides right on the toe area.
Inside the shoe is a thick full-length React foam sockliner. React technology is soft and provides cushioning that lasts all day.
A wavy herringbone traction pattern similar to a modern basketball shoe graces the outsole.
This Nike SB Ishod Wair “Pistachio” comes in soft pastel hues of Green with bright Red colours. The Red accents appear on the outlined Swoosh and Ishod labels.
A gum rubber outsole finishes off the design.
