Nike Terminator High "Be True" FD8638-100

The return of the Nike Terminator brought back some of the Be True to Your School colourways from the 80s. Now, this vintage basketball shoe joins Nike’s annual Be True collection. This Nike Terminator High “Be True” celebrates Pride Month with rainbow themes as a nod to the LGBTQ+ community. 2023’s theme seems simpler than previous packs but it’s still a good representation for the LGBTQ+ groups.

Pride Month occurs every June where LGBTQ+ communities are empowered and recognised. Nike’s Be True campaign began in 2012, and became an annual celebration with multiple sneaker releases. 2023 marks the 11th year of Be True celebrations, and Nike shows no signs of slowing down.

The Nike Terminator was officially released in 1985 as a basketball shoe. Along with the Nike Dunk and Air Jordan 1, Nike basketball boomed because of these kicks. The Terminator High was a prominent silhouette worn by the Nike-sponsored university the Georgetown Hoyas. It appeared in the classic grey and navy makeover with a large HOYAS lettering on the heel, replacing Nike.

Nike brought the shoe back in late 2022, appearing in styles like the Georgetown and Michigan renditions. The shoe even arrived in the iconic Panda colour blocking with Nike hoping the shoe gains more attention.

This Nike Terminator High “Be True” arrives in a sail white leather upper with beige overlays. Rainbow-coloured Nike branding on the heel stands out. Be True details adorn the tongue and inner tongue.
