The introduction of the Nike Air Vapormax in 2016 caused plenty of noise in the sneaker community. It surprised a lot of people because of the latest tech Nike dropped. Five years later Nike have modified the silhouette annually, here’s the 2021 model with more sustainable content than ever before.
In a daring move from Nike that took seven years to bring to the table. The Nike Air Vapormax boasts an exterior Air Sole unit that’s strategically placed to provide maximum comfort and impact protection. Nobody in their wildest dreams thought that a vulnerable Nike Air unit would replace an entire sole. Around the edges designers have added multiple nubs to provide grip. Once again Nike dared and Nike succeeded!
When it first arrived, Nike marketed the Air Vapormax as the brand’s premier running shoe. This maybe wasn’t the ideal market due to durability issues on the Air sole. The shoe then transitioned into a lifestyle shoe and has since been released in a plethora of flavours.
The Nike Air Vapormax 21 Flyknit is the latest model in a chain of Vapormax releases, it features 40% recycled content. Mainly due to the Flyknit that’s made with recycled yarn, but there’s also the recycled Air unit. Clips are place on the heel and forefoot for added support, durability, and stability. Vapormax labels can be located on the tongue.
This colourway arrives in the staple Triple Black. This extends to the Air Sole that acts as a transparent window to the cushioning system.
As part of Nike’s Move to Zero campaign, the sneaker utilizes the speckled Nike Grind rubber on key high-wear areas. Last but not least the insoles are also recycled, never failing to provide that step-in comfort.
Released in August 2021, expect to see more colourways of the Nike Air Vapormax FK as time goes on.
