One of the most elusive sneaker previews officially gets a confirmed release date! This Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid SP “Black” finally lands in May 2022; months after Virgil Abloh’s sudden passing in November 2021 caused release postponements. For the first time, we see the Nike Air Force 1 Mid appear with the Off-White treatment. Looks like the Air Force 1’s 40th anniversary is in full swing with this collab release.
As a first for Off-White, the Nike Air Force 1 Mid is a rather surprising choice. But knowing Virgil Abloh’s creativity to turn a basic shoe into something we’ve never seen before, the AF1 Mid is another testament to the Off-White founder’s legacy. This colourway boasts a similar colour blocking as the Black Fuschia rendition found on the Off-White Waffle Racer and Vapor Street; including the pink rubber spikes and all that.
The Nike Air Force 1 Mid is the last of the three primary styles to release (the first two being the High and Low). Virgil Abloh’s take on this AF1 Mid involves his signature Off-White details and accessories. Canvas makes up the upper construction, with a unique tiger stripes texture in subtle form.
Nylon ankle straps keep the foot locked in.
Off-White accessories such as the embroidered orange tag behind the Swoosh, orange zip tie, and a pink lace lock add to the abundant details of the sneaker. An external lacing setup also appears with white laces – overlapping the regular lacing system with black laces.
The midsole features curvy edges on the heel where a window exposes the Air unit. Rubber spikes on the outsole appear on the forefoot and the medial forefoot. These spikes are painted in Pink, Green, and Blue for an additional layer.
Officially set for a May 2022 launch, stay tuned for more updates as Nike and Off-White announces details soon.
