Patta x Nike Air Max 1 "Monarch"

A new decade calls for a new Patta Nike Air Max 1 drop! This “Monarch” colourway boasts similar hues to the previous Air Max 1 designs, but with a new twist.

Dutch streetwear and sneaker label Patta teams up with Nike once more for an Air Max 1 makeover. The previous collaboration between the two dates back to more than a decade ago when Patta reworked a pair of Air Max 90 in 2006. The Amsterdam based brand quickly gained popularity and built a solid reputation in the streetwear and sneaker scene.

Patta’s love for the Nike Air Max 1 continues with this release.

During Patta’s fifth anniversary in 2009, five colourways of the Nike Air Max 1 were released to celebrate the big milestone. “Chlorophyll”, “Purple Denim” and “5th Anniv” came out in the same year. While two more colourways, “Lucky Green” and “Cherrywood” soon following in 2010 to cap off the celebration. After 11 years the revolutionary silhouette is back once again.

The Nike Air Max 1 brought Nike to a whole new level with the introduction of “Air Max”. The never before seen cushioning system was executed perfectly by Nike. The visible Air Max unit paved the way for the Swoosh to reach greater heights.

Introduced in 1987, the running trainer features a mesh base upper and is reinforced with suede overlays along the midfoot and the heel. The suede mudguard on the lower panel wraps the shoe for added durability. Multiple Nike labels are placed on the heel and tongue accompany the Swoosh on the sides of the sneaker.

Nike incorporates a thick PU foam midsole as usual. Coming to the heel area, a cored-out section with a see through window houses the Air Max unit providing increased comfort and impact protection.

The shoe is finished off with the waffle traction pattern developed by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman.

2021’s Nike Air Max 1 x Patta collab modifies the mudguard and features a wavy design. This colourway utilizes mesh, leather, and nubuck in complementary accents of white, metallic silver, and deep orange.

A white PU sole and visible Air Max unit complete the overall finish of the shoe.

Arriving on the third week of September 2021 the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Monarch” was exclusively available on the SNKRS app and Patta’s website.
