Nike pulled Nike Air technology into the next century with the release of the Nike TN Air Max Plus in 1998. Sneakerheads were curious about this revolutionary new cushioning system and were certainly impressed due to the versatility and comfort on offer. It was also released in bold colourways that had never been seen before, a feature that has now become normality with this silhouette.
A staple sneaker nowadays, this particular TN Air Max Plus colourway arrives in suave Black and Gold, it’s headlined by a Cordura tag on the lateral side.
The Air Max Plus was a futuristic sneaker at release, way ahead of the game. As well as blow-moulded Air units the Air Max Plus boasts an extra supportive upper. Nike managed to combine mesh and TPU cage for a lightweight ride. This special colourway uses a Cordura fabric that’s usually built out of nylon.
Drawing inspiration from beach life in modern cities, the Nike TN Air Max Plus is built with a durable nylon fabric. The wavy TPU fingers pay homage to palm trees and ocean waves. They’re strategically placed throughout the upper to add structure and support. This colourway adds a fading effect to the strips decorating the nylon upper.
Yellow Nike “TN” logos on the heel add a classic feel to the shoe. Complimenting the dark makeover of this colourway.
The toe and mudguards add durability to the shoe. A foam midsole houses the two Tuned Air Max units which are decoupled with a TPU arch, this takes inspiration from a whale’s tail and provides torsional support. Finishing it off is the waffle traction outsole.
Scheduled for a 2021 release, this Nike TN Air Max Plus “Cordura” is definitely a highly-anticipated sneaker for Tuned Air fans.
