The 35th anniversary of the Nike Air Max 1 and Air Max technology, in general, saw the arrival of unique AM1 renditions. This Nike Air Max 1 ’87 “Ale Brown” joins the women’s exclusive releases with simple yet luxurious designs.
The Air Max Day back in March 2022 was unlike any other, made even special due to the tech’s 35th birthday. This celebration never stopped as more Air Max 1 releases keep coming months after the event! We now get another Air Max 1 iteration exclusive for the ladies. Such a productive year for Nike and the Air Max line indeed!
Sneaker culture completely changed when the Nike Air Max 1 arrived. Officially introduced in 1987, the Tinker Hatfield design pioneered the use of Air Max technology. The lightweight mesh makes up the base of the shoe, while leather overlays reinforce the low-top construction.
Promoted as a running shoe, the AM1 boasts a PU midsole and a visible air bubble on the heel. While comfortable, it made the shoe feel slightly unstable for running. Nike eventually categorised the shoe as a lifestyle model under the Nike Sportswear label. Its regained popularity gave the Air Max 1 the love and appreciation it deserves in terms of fashion and sneaker culture itself.
This WMNS Nike Air Max 1 ’87 “Ale Brown” features a monochromatic Ale Brown leather base. Faux croc-skin textures appear on the Swooshes and front eyestay. Debossed Nike Air labels on the heel give it a subtle yet recognisable approach.
Stitching on the midsole adds durability to the shoe and (hopefully) prevents sole separations. Gum rubber outsole concludes the makeover of this ladies’ exclusive pair.
