Take a second look, no, this is not a collaboration with SpongeBob Squarepants! This women’s exclusive Air Max 95 colourway is actually another Safari rendition with different Yellow shades. This is a great summer shoe nevertheless.
While new Air Max models are always on the horizon, we can never forget about the 90s icons. This includes the Air Max 95, also known as the 110 based on its retail price when it first launched. The new Alabaster colourway brings modern aesthetics to the old-school trainer.
The entire decade of the 90s was a breakthrough for Nike and the Air Max line. When the AM90 came out, more upgrades followed suit. The Nike Air Max 95 originally came out in 1985 and featured the first visible Air unit in the forefoot.
Sergio Lozano took design inspiration from the human anatomy when he created the model. The wavy upper panels resemble the muscles, while the lacing setup serves as the lungs. The foam midsole represents the spine.
Visible Air units in the heel and forefoot provided more bounce than ever before. This set the benchmark for succeeding Air Max models which eventually utilised full-length visible Air.
The WMNS Nike Air Max 95 “Alabaster” features neutral tones of Yellow and Coconut Milk to achieve a gradient fade detail. Subtle Safari graphics make up the wavy panels of the shoe, while fuzzy laces add to the special look.
The White foam midsole and Brown outsole complete the summer-ready colourway. It also highly resembles SpongeBob Squarepants!
