Release Rumours: Nike Air Max 1 “Royal Blue” 2024

Many of us have already heard of the possible return of the iconic Royal Blue colourway, but it seems more special than expected! Following the Air Max Day 2023 and the Air Max ’86 Big Bubble debut, it looks like we may have another special AM1 release for next year. 2024 will mark the 10th year of Air Max Day celebrations since Nike began the event in 2014. With this in mind rumours have begun to circulate about the Nike Air Max 1 “Royal Blue” dripping for Air Max Day 2024.

Mock-Up images showcase the potential look of the colourway with the Big Bubble construction. However, the latest sources say that the upcoming pair will be similar to the 2014 Air Max 1 “Sport Red”. Yes, with the Volt PU soles and 3.26 labels on the tongue.

Check out all these photoshopped images below while we wait for what the shoe would actually look like.

Big Bubble?

The most expected release is none other than the Air Max 1 ’86 construction. This is convincing as the Royal Blue is an OG colourway, thus deserving of the Big Bubble Air unit build.

This mock-up by @solelove1 features the iconic blue tones on the suede mudguard and Swoosh. When the news about the Royal Blue emerged, everyone quickly thought of this edition. Which is highly likely to release in the next year, unless Nike has other plans in mind!

Whilst many will crave the 87′ release, we think it would be great if we could actually get the ’86 edition on this colourway to put into the collection alongside the Sport Red Big Bubble.

Nike Air Max 1 “3.26 Edition”

Other sources suggest that the 10th Air Max Day Celebration will bring forth something special. Back in 2014 during the first Air Max Day, Nike released the Air Max 1 3.26 “Sport Red”. The most notable design update from this edition is the bright Volt PU sole and 3.26 branding on the tongue.

Sources speculate that the shoe will utilise the ’86 shape to achieve the big bubble look.

Below, we compared the mockup by @bubblekoppe with the 2014 Sport Red release.

It’s going to be a very interesting decision should Nike follow this route. It’s the 10th-anniversary celebration of Air Max Day so anything is possible and at this point, we’re all just speculating! If any of the above were to release, we’ll definitely be doubling up!

Nike Air Max 1 ‘Royal Blue” Anniversary Edition

The last Nike Air Max 1 “Royal Blue” release was in 2017, during the AM1’s 30th anniversary. It was also an extremely limited launch, but eventually returned with a restock.

The shoe features the usual shape of the Nike Air Max 1. A plain and simple colour palette that has gone on to become an instantly recognisable Nike staple.

Conclusion

With Air Max Day 2024 still many months away, everything is still guesswork at this point. We’re definitely looking forward to what Nike’s cooking up, though! One thing we can be sure of is that if you thought Air Max Day 2023 was special, we can expect the 10th-year Air Max Day event in 2024 to be even better.
