The adidas Samba Climbing Shoe Takes the Icon to New Heights

The adidas Samba is leaving the indoor football court and heading for the climbing wall. Launching in October 2026, adidas is reworking its lifestyle staple with technical Five Ten components designed to provide serious grip and protection.

Although the adidas Samba Climbing Shoe retains familiar terrace details, its construction is drastically different. The upper features a leather base, serrated Three Stripes, traditional gold Samba branding, and a close-fitting neoprene-style collar. Oversized pull tabs around the heel make it easier to put on and remove.

The biggest changes appear underfoot. adidas replaces the Samba’s traditionally flat sole with a curved outsole made using Five Ten STEALTH rubber, a material known for its performance in climbing footwear. The rubber extends around the signature t-toe and rises across the heel to provide additional traction and protection when navigating climbing holds.

Five Ten branding across the heel highlights the technical partnership. adidas has owned the climbing footwear specialist since 2011, giving the brand access to proven performance technology instead of simply borrowing the appearance of outdoor shoes.

Two colourways have surfaced so far. One combines a black leather upper with white stripes and bright orange accents, while the other arrives in a white, black, and blue arrangement. The Black/White/Orange adidas Samba Climbing Shoe is scheduled to release on October 6, 2026, through adidas.
