The Air Jordan 12 “Cherry” is Making a Major Comeback

The Air Jordan 12 “Cherry” is a true icon. First introduced to the world in 1997, it has always been known as one of Michael Jordan’s all-time favourites. Boasting a predominantly white leather construction, it’s accented with fiery shades of “Varsity Red” across the mudguard section. While many sneakerheads will automatically assume that is a love letter to the Chicago Bulls, OGs will understand that this colour combo actually pays homage to one of MJ’s favourite countries: Japan.

Taking its palette directly from the the flag, the red hues set the Nike Air midsole ablaze. Around the back, slick black details venture towards the heel tab, and the “Cherry” is then finished off with a series of stainless steel eyelets, finalising the truly legendary design.

Around the same time that Tinker Hatfield was designing the twelfth Air Jordan silhouette, the Black Cat had just returned from the Land of the Rising Sun. There, he immediately fell in love with everything from the food to the culture, and he wanted a sneaker that was inspired by his experiences.

With its compelling history, precise craftsmanship, and bold colour scheme, this sneaker places itself firmly on every collector’s radar. Set to re-release on October 28th, make sure you keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop the Air Jordan 12 “Cherry” CT8013-116.
