The Air Jordan 4 Retro Bin23 “Fauna Brown” Goes Western

Known for its top-of-the-line construction and extremely limited quantities, Jordan Brand’s Bin23 series has just unveiled one of the most premium Air Jordan 4s yet. While the iconic basketball shoe has been a staple in the sneaker scene for decades, the Bin23 “Fauna Brown” helps tell a different story. Textured pony hair, rich brown suede, and thick rope laces shift the 1989 basketball design towards the American West. The theme is clearly intentional, drawing inspiration from Michael Jordan’s love of Western films.

A dark brown shade wraps the toe and heel, while lighter chocolate covers much of the suede/nubuck upper. The netted panels have a shaggy texture that makes the shoe look more like a considered piece of Western clothing than a conventional Jordan 4 colourway. An embossed pattern on the tongue and a saloon-inspired hangtag carry the idea further; small red accents keep the mostly brown design from looking flat. Even the visible Air unit is painted over, leaving a more continuous off-white midsole beneath the busy upper.

That treatment suits Bin23, Jordan Brand’s premium line, which began in 2010 and returned this year with editions of the Air Jordan 3, 6 and 8. This is the Air Jordan 4’s entry in the revived series. The appeal is in how thoroughly the theme changes a recognisable shape, rather than simply dressing it in expensive materials. While it has an unusually specific look, anyone after a versatile brown Air Jordan 4 may find the luxe vibe
