The CLOT x adidas Stan Smith Espadrille is the Hybrid Sneaker We Never Knew We Needed

Edison Chen is no stranger when it comes to reinventing adidas classics. From beaded Gazelles to Superstars that look like dress shoes, the Hong Kong-based multi-hyphenate is a tour de force when it comes to creating truly unique sneakers. And the same can definitely be said about the brand new CLOT x adidas Stan Smith Espadrille, which combines the legendary Stan Smith with your favourite summer shoe.

Revealed in two colourways including “Footwear White” and “Cloud Black,” from a distance, these trainers look exactly like the Stan Smith that we all know and love. The former is decked out in fine leather, while the latter opts for buttery suede instead. Three Stripe perforations hits the lateral and medial sidewalls, and the legendary tennis player, whom this silhouette is named after, makes a cameo on the tongue.

But while everything along the top half is normal, the bottom half is unlike anything we’ve seen before. Replacing the usual rubber midsole with woven jute, it’s a nod to the traditional espadrille. It’s then finished off with a gum rubber outsole for added grip and traction.
