The Infrared Nike Air Max 90 Is Back and 2026 Just Got Serious

Few colourways carry the weight of the Nike Air Max 90 “Infrared.” First released in 1990, Tinker Hatfield’s design introduced a sharper silhouette and a visible Air unit framed by that unmistakable hit of crimson. For 2026, Nike is set to bring the original look back in its purest form after several years of near-miss variations. Yes we had the GORE-TEX drop but this marks the first true return of the OG since the 30th anniversary pair in 2020.

The familiar layout is expected to stay intact. Light grey suede wraps the toe and side panels, paired with crisp white mesh through the forefoot and collar. A black leather mudguard grounds the upper, while “Infrared 23” accents strike the lace guards, heel branding, tongue badge and the Air unit window in the midsole.

After a year where the spotlight largely fell on the Air Max 95 and other heritage models, the Infrared 90’s return feels like a reset moment for the line. Much of the final release detail remains under wraps, but all signs point to a faithful recreation of the 1990 blueprint. A Spring 2026 launch is currently expected, with pairs likely landing via Nike and select global retailers.
