The MSCHF 2×4 Boot Completely Deconstructs the Classic Timberland

MSCHF is certainly no stranger when it comes to head-turning footwear designs. From shoes inspired by anime characters to sneakers that are literally flipped back-to-front, over the past couple of years, the Brooklyn-based creative collective has been world-renowned for its audacious and often provocative projects. And now, it’s back in the spotlight once again with the release of the MSCHF 2×4 Boot.

Drawing inspiration from the legendary Timberland 6-inch Boot, specifically in the ever-popular “Wheat” colourway, the 2×4 Boot is unlike anything else that we’ve seen before. Elevating the Timbs’ aesthetic to new heights, the design ingeniously flips the outsole pattern to the upper, extending the boot’s tread to the toebox and heel counter, and creating a striking visual contrast that defies expectations.

The eyelets are decked out in a metallic gold finish, while thick rope laces tie everything together. It’s not all just form over function though, as the ankle section is higher-than-usual for extra support, and it’s bolstered with padded black leather for additional comfort and cushioning. All of this then comes packed in a special edition shoebox, that’s almost as sought-after as the actual 2×4 itself.

By reimagining the traditional components of a boot into a cohesive, visually interesting product, MSCHF challenges our perceptions of design but also invites wearers and onlookers alike to reconsider the possibilities of everyday objects. Expected to drop on March 19, be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop the MSCHF 2×4 Boot.
