The New Balance 2010 “Grey Days” is Destined to Be a Future Classic

The New Balance ABZORB 2010 has landed just in time for Grey Days 2026, the brand’s annual celebration of everything grey. For New Balance, grey is not just another colourway. It is the colour that built a huge part of the brand’s identity, rooted in city pavements, concrete, asphalt and the understated running shoes that made the Boston label feel different from everyone else.

That is why Grey Days always feels bigger than a standard seasonal drop. It is New Balance celebrating its own language. Grey suede, silver mesh, muted overlays, technical runners and old-school performance energy all come together in one of the brand’s most important release moments of the year.

For 2026, the ABZORB 2010 feels like the standout.

The 2010 is one of New Balance’s newest silhouettes, but it already looks like it belongs. Sitting within the growing ABZORB line, alongside models like the ABZORB 2000 and 1890, it shows where New Balance is heading right now. The brand is not just relying on retro runners and archive favourites. It is building new shapes that still feel connected to its DNA.

This pair gets that balance right. The silver mesh gives it a proper Y2K runner feel, while the Castlerock overlays and dark grey branding keep it rooted in that classic New Balance greyscale palette. It feels techy, but not forced. Futuristic, but still wearable. There is a lot going on, from the layered upper to the segmented ABZORB midsole, but it never tips into looking overdesigned.

The midsole is the main event here. Those ABZORB SBS pods give the 2010 its shape, bulk and identity. New Balance has been pushing ABZORB hard recently, and this is probably the cleanest example of the tech being used as both a performance detail and a design feature. It looks cushioned, structured and aggressive without losing that everyday runner feel.

The heel is another strong point. The greyscale gradient around the ABZORB pods adds a chrome-like finish that works perfectly for Grey Days. It almost feels like New Balance took the usual grey runner formula and pushed it through a 2000s performance filter.

That is why this pair feels important. The 2010 is not just another new model added to the line-up. It feels like a future New Balance classic. The kind of silhouette that might look new now, but in a few years could feel like it has always been part of the range.

This colourway is now available at the New Balance site in full unisex sizes for £150. Other styles in the “Grey Days 2026” collection are also available on the website.
