The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Royal” is an OG Reborn

Rumours of the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Royal” first surfaced earlier this year, and now, we’re taking a first look at the hotly-anticipated sneaker in all its glory. A tribute to one of Tinker Hatfield’s original designs from the ’80s, it’s now been reworked with elevated materials and an even more comfortable midsole. What’s there not to love?

Working on top of a crisp “White” mesh base, contrasting “Neutral Grey” suede panels wrap around the lateral and medial sidewalls, as well as the heel. A dash of “Royal Blue” hits the Swoosh, and a complementary hue embraces the entire mudguard, just to balance all of the colours out.

While Nike could’ve just left it there, the American sportswear company has also added some bold purple tones on the tongue tag and insole. But the star of the shoe has to to be the midsole. One of the latest pairs to get the iconic Big Bubble treatment, it results in legendary levels of cushioning with every step. The Air Max 1 is then finished off with a black rubber outsole for extra grip and traction, which makes it perfect for everyday wear.

By faithfully recreating the sneaker’s original design while incorporating contemporary craftsmanship, Nike offers a timeless piece that resonates with enthusiasts who appreciate the blend of classic style and cutting-edge comfort.
