The Nike Air Max 1 “Monarch” Was Made for Sneaker Royalty

Even though the Air Max 1 has been around for the better part of four decades, Nike continues to find new and interesting ways to make it one of the greatest silhouettes in its line-up. Whether you’re a hardcore AM1 collector or you’re on the hunt for your very first pair, the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 “Monarch” should definitely be on your radar. And as its name already suggests, it’s fit for a king.

From a distance, this AM1 bears a striking resemblance to 2022’s Patta x Nike Air Max 1. But as soon as you take a closer look, you’ll immediately realise that it’s an entirely different beast altogether. Working on top of a clean “White” mesh foundation, it’s subtly contrasted by “Pure Platinum” leather panels across the sidewalls and heel.

A stealthy “Black” Swoosh glides across the laterals and medials, and while the American sportswear company could’ve just left it there, they decided to add a vivid splash of “Monarch,” which takes over the mudguard and the entire inside of the sneaker. Down below, the Air Max 1 rests on top of an all-white Air midsole, and it’s finished off with “Nike Air” branding that’s finely stitched around the back, finalising the design.

The Nike Air Max 1 “Monarch” manages to strike a perfect balance between nostalgia and innovation, proving that the Air Max 1 silhouette continues to be as relevant and stylish today as it was in 1987. Dropping in Summer 2024, be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop.
