The Nike Air Max 1 “Museum Masterpiece” is Literal Art

As Air Max Day 2024 draws closer and closer (it’s on March 26th, by the way), Nike is revisiting one of its ’80s classics with the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG “Museum Masterpiece.” Giving the Tinker Hatfield icon a Louvre-worthy makeover, this special edition trainer is the perfect balance between fine art and innovative footwear.

From a distance, this Air Max 1 looks like another “Triple White” colourway. But as soon as you take a step closer, you’ll immediately realise that there’s so much more to it. The entire upper, for example, is decked out premium leather and is textured with a luxurious marbled finish. This effect extends from the toebox all the way to the heel.

Buttery suede adorns the tongue tag and Swoosh, and underfoot, the “Museum Masterpiece” rests on top of an off-white midsole which borrows its Air unit from the mythical “Big Bubble” of 1986. The rubber outsole is dipped in grey, and all of this comes packed in a special edition shoebox. To round it all off, “Please do not step on the art” is printed on the right insole, while the left one is embellished with the definition of the Nike Air Max, in a similar style to what you might find in an exhibition.

Scheduled for release around March 2024, the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG “Museum Masterpiece” transforms Tinker Hatfield’s original vision into a tangible expression of art and innovation. For your best chance to cop, keep your eyes peeled at Captain Creps!
