Unless you’ve been living under a massive rock for the past year or two, you’d know that the gorpcore trend has taken the sneaker scene completely by storm. An aesthetic that’s inspired by the great outdoors (gorp is actually an acronym for “good ol’ raisins and peanuts, which is every hiker’s favourite snack), it looks like Nike wants a piece of the pie with the freshly-announced Nike Air Max Flyknit Venture “Black.”
Seemingly inspired by the American sportswear brand’s ACG and ISPA lines, the Air Max Flyknit Venture boasts a sock-like Flyknit upper that’s insanely comfortable but offers amazing support. Flywire cables run across the lateral and medial sidewalls, and these come together to form the lacing system. These also work seamlessly with the pull tabs across the tongue and heel, resulting in a rugged yet sleek aesthetic that’s made for both the mountain peaks and city streets.
The collar boasts a quilted texture for additional comfort, but what really sets the Air Max Flyknit Venture apart from the rest of the competition is its midsole. Featuring a highly-sculpted, experimental, and chunky look, it’s crafted from “Velvet Brown” foam and is infused with Air Max technology around the back for extra cushioning. It also extends towards the front of the trainer for protection, and it’s lined with exaggerated tooling for even more grip and traction with every step.
While an official release date has yet to be announced by Nike, expect the Nike Air Max Flyknit Venture “Black” to be unleashed within the coming weeks. Keep an eye out for updates, make sure you keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
