Nike reworks its classic Shox tech with a surprising twist for Autumn 2025. The new Nike Shox Z borrows cues from formalwear, bringing kitten heel inspiration into a sneaker built for everyday use. It’s a bold crossover, blending Y2K sport DNA with a sleeker, more elevated shape.

The upper leans light and breathable. Mesh dominates the base, with ripple-like ridges adding visual depth across the side panels. No-sew overlays help define the structure around the toe and lace zone. It all feels streamlined and airy on foot.

What really makes this silhouette stand out, though, is the heel setup. Dual Shox columns remain intact, but Nike’s flipped the formula—literally. The rear lifts into a slight slope, mimicking the elegant curve of classic kitten heels. This is Shox, but with a shift in posture.

Functional elements haven’t been lost. There’s a padded tongue with a pull tab for quick access, plus a moulded heel counter for support. Underneath, a rubber outsole ensures grip across varied surfaces.
Design-wise, the Shox Z shares DNA with past icons like the Shox TL and Shox NZ, yet feels fresher—more fashion-forward. It lands at a time when sneakers like the New Balance 1906L have opened the door for oddball silhouettes. Expect a similar wave of hype here. No firm release date yet, but the Shox Z is expected to hit shelves by autumn.
