For the first time ever, Nike has teamed up with Berlin’s PAN Records for the PAN Records x Nike Air Max 180. In the three decades that this silhouette’s been around, this is probably its biggest rework to date. Stripping the classic running shoe down to its bare essentials, it’s now stealthier and sleeker than ever before.
Up top, the usual mesh and leather has now been replaced with a textured fabric. A glossy oil spill-like overlay wraps around the mudguard, and this unique element follows through around the heel. If you haven’t noticed already, the Swoosh has been completely removed from the sidewalls. But just in case you missed the American sportswear company’s iconic tick, it’s added another, smaller one along the lateral toe.
Underfoot, the chunky midsole is fitted with an opaque Air bubble, and the translucent outsole reveals a striking graphic of Pan, the wild, half-goat god from Greek mythology. It’s a direct reference to the label’s name, but also mirrors its experimental spirit – raw, unpredictable, and legendary.
Details stay tight. The number “180” is embossed on the heel. Tonal stitching and subtle PAN branding keep things understated but throughout. Even the packaging is considered, with the same Pan graphic printed on the tissue paper inside.
If you’re looking for something that bends the rules while staying rooted in sneaker history, the PAN Records x Nike Air Max 180 might just speak your language. Dropping on April 12th, let us know if you’ll be going for these, and be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size.
