In a move that was totally unexpected yet expected at the same time, the Carhartt WIP x New Balance 990v6 “Sculpture Center” has been revealed in all its workwear glory. Embodying the raw and straightforward spirit found in neighbourhood gyms across the United States, this 990v6 interlocks the distinct aesthetics of both powerhouse brands, delivering a sneaker that perfectly honours the classic American label.
Presenting itself in a dark grey mesh base, this New Balance is overlaid by caramel-hued suede panels, nodding to Carhartt’s legendary workwear style. Bold, oversized “N” logos feature across the lateral and medial sidewalls, and the “990” model number is proudly stamped across the heel.
The tongue lets go of the customary “990v6” text and is replaced instead with “Carhartt” and “Work in Progress” to really drive the collaboration home. All of this then sits on top of a chunky ENCAP midsole that’s dipped in a cream and beige colour scheme and then infused with FuelCell tech for additional comfort and cushioning with every step.
To round it all off, “Made in U.S.A.” is debossed around the back to remind you of its origins, and all of this comes packed in a limited edition shoebox that’s accompanied by a spare pair of olive laces. If you want the Carhartt WIP x New Balance 990v6 “Sculpture Center” in your rotation, it’s set to release on October 20th, so make sure you keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
