Nike is reaching deeper into its archives, and this comeback brings more than a familiar colourway. Only recognisable to sneaker purists, the Air Max 2000 returns under a new name, the Nike Air Max Ecstasy Plus. Headlining the comeback is a stealthy “Triple Black” colourway, putting its futuristic construction back in focus. Born from Nike’s Alpha Project, the silhouette carries the experimental look that makes turn-of-the-millennium footwear so compelling today.

The upper starts with tight black mesh, layered beneath elongated TPU overlays that stretch around the shoe. A ribbed spine, reinforced toe, and moulded rubber section below the laces give the design its distinctive profile. With nearly every component dressed in black, the differences between materials do the visual work. The result feels industrial, with enough depth to keep the monochrome finish from looking flat.

Branding adds another connection to the archive. The five-dot Alpha Project logo appears on the lateral side, while a small Swoosh near the toe introduces a detail that seamlessly blends with the model’s original design. Those restrained touches leave plenty of room for the layered upper and sculpted tooling to command attention.

Underfoot, visible heel Air cushioning joins a shaped midsole and rubber outsole. The substantial sole gives the sneaker a strong foundation, complementing the technical appearance of the uppers.
For styling, this pair makes sense with loose denim, cargo trousers, or understated sportswear. Its appeal lies in that combination: an easy black palette wrapped around a silhouette with plenty of personality. The Nike Air Max Ecstasy Plus “Triple Black” is expected to arrive in the UK in Holiday 2026 via the Nike website and select retailers.
