If you thought 2023 was a big year for Chinese New Year-inspired sneakers, wait until you see what’s in-store for 2024. After checking out themed versions of the Air Force 1 Low and the Air Jordan 1 Low OG last month, we’re now taking our very first look at the Nike Full Force Low “Year of the Dragon.” Even though this silhouette is relatively new, it’s quickly becoming one of Nike‘s most popular lifestyle models. So if for whatever reason you still don’t have a pair in your collection, this upcoming colourway is here to change just that.
Unlike most Lunar New Year-coded kicks, this Full Force Low is extremely clean and minimal. Crafted from a “Sail” leather construction that’s smooth and buttery to the touch, crisp white hues make their way to the lacing system and mudguards. The inner lining is painted completely in red as a nod to the traditional Chinese colour of happiness, and this fiery shade extends towards the Swoosh too.
Around the heel, the embroidered “Nike” logo is accented in a jade-like hue, and floral details can be found on the custom insoles. “Just Do It” is written across the tongue tag in a serif font, and if you actually look at the back of the tongue, you’ll find a traditional four-word proverb in Chinese characters. All of this then sits on top of a rubber midsole that nods to classic ’80s basketball styles.
Chinese New Year is scheduled for February 10th, so expect the Nike Full Force Low “Year of the Dragon” to release around then. If you want a pair in your rotation, make sure you keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop!
