After months and months of leaks and teasers, the hotly-anticipated JJJJound x New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex has finally arrived. While these would’ve been great during the wet weather that we experienced a few weeks ago, better late than never, right?
Originally dubbed the “Green” and the “Grey,” JJJJound’s latest takes on the legendary New Balance sneakers finally have an official name: “Pine” and “Charcoal.” Featuring an all-black mesh base, both trainers are contrasted by panels of buttery suede throughout, resulting in a seriously sumptuous look and feel. The “N” logo features across the lateral and medial sidewalls in premium leather, and “2002R” is debossed around the heel, alongside a Gore-Tex tag.
The last detail is pretty important, because this 2002R collection marks the Montreal-based streetwear label’s first Gore-Tex infused sneaker ever. This technology is, essentially, a membrane lining that’s designed to keep the warmth in and the rain out. These are then placed on top of stealthy N-ERGY midsoles which offer unrivalled comfort and cushioning with every step. They’re also packed in special shoeboxes, which are almost as collectible as the actual shoes themselves.
The JJJJound x New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex is set to release on February 15th, followed by a wider launch on February 22nd. Let us know which colourway you’re feeling the most, and make sure you keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop!
