After working on two versions of the Air Jordan 2 back in 2022, Nina Chanel Abney, a prominent New York City-based contemporary artist, has taken to Instagram to reveal her next collaboration with Jordan Brand: the Nina Chanel Abney x Air Jordan 3 “Green.” Giving Michael Jordan’s third signature shoe a fresh rework, make sure you read on to find out everything that there is to know.
While most AJ3s are decked out in all leather constructions, Abney’s edition works on top of a “Bicoastal” canvas base and is overlaid by short-haired “Malachite Green” suede across the lacing system, toebox, ankle, and heel. It’s a big departure from the silhouette’s usual aesthetic, but it works remarkably well.
Another notable deviation from traditional Air Jordan 3s is the inclusion of thick “Fossil” coloured laces. Furthermore, the cherished “Nike Air” heel badge has also been slightly changed, marrying classic elements with Abney’s own modern artistic vision.
Not much else us known about the Nina Chanel Abney x Air Jordan 3 “Green” at this moment in time, but according to our sources, it’ll launch alongside a collection of matching apparel, and will release sometime in Summer 2024.
