Even though Dingyun Zhang has only been in the industry for a handful of years, he’s already built quite a reputation for himself. From collaborating with Moncler to working for Yeezy, the Chinese-Mongolian fashion designer is now ready to reveal his next major project to the world in the form of the Dingyun Zhang x adidas Samba “Core Black.”
Even while studying at Central Saint Martins, Zhang has always been known for his puffy aesthetic and his use of dark, moody colours, and that’s exactly the kind of vibe that he’s brought to his first Samba ever. Rather than the usual smooth leather construction that we all know and love, this special version is decked out in a glossy patent build that’s meant to mirror the creative’s iconic jackets. Puffed up detailing hits the lateral and medial sidewalls, and the suede collar and toebox have also been beefed up for a skate shoe vibe.
Co-branded detailing hits the tongue and insole, and the entire adidas sneaker is completely submerged in “Core Black” for a seriously stealthy look. All of this then rests on top of a rubber midsole, which has also been dipped in black to tie everything together.
The Dingyun Zhang x adidas Samba “Core Black” is set to drop on May 10th. Let us know what you think of this contemporary interpretation of the classic silhouette, and keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop!
