Teddy Santis may be the creative director of New Balance now. But this doesn’t stop him and his Aime Leon Dore brand from continuing its strong partnership with NB. Following Santis’ Made in USA Collection Season 2, we now get an ALD collab with the 1906R. This Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1906R “Jade” rocks different shades of green atop a yellowish mesh base.

It’s no question that New Balance continues to gain traction in the sneaker world thanks to their collabs. While still known for “dad shoes”, New Balance also gained a fanbase from vintage sneakers such as the 550, 2002r, 1906r, and the 990x series. This ALD collab marks the first time we’ve seen the brand on the 1906R, a sure way to sell out!

The New Balance 1906R is an updated model of the 1906 from 2009. Yes, the shoe is not really that old. New Balance based the name of the shoe on the year the brand was formed.

Following the formula of early 2010s running shoes, the 1906R features an airy mesh base with rubber overlays for durability. Updated N logos flaunt a rather luxurious look. The shoe uses the same tooling as the 2002R for a comfortable ride.

This Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1906R “Jade” features a sail white mesh base as a nod to Teddy Santis’ signature vintage look. Jade green tones cover the textile overlays along with silver accents for a true old-school finish. ALD logos are minimal in this rendition. Flower logos appear on the tongue while co-branded tags make up the sockliner.

This special collab launches this May 2023 in limited quantities. Already building up the hype because of ALD’s quick return in the New Balance back catalogue.
