A different month, a new collab for the returning Air Jordan 2. After years of sporadic releases, 2022 is definitely the year of the 2s with multiple collabs halfway through the year. This Air Jordan 2 Retro Low x Two 18 “Rocky Tan” is the first J2 release in the collab. And we can expect more on the way as various samples previewed a few months back showcase multiple colourways!
This special Air Jordan 2 by Two 18 is part of the three-part collab of Jordan Brand with three popular sneaker boutiques. The Detroit-based brand joins South Africa’s Shelflife and the Philippines’ TITAN22, all stores have their own Air Jordan 2 makeovers. This rendition pays homage to Detroit communities and how various cultures shaped the city.
The Air Jordan 2’s triumphant return is a welcome one. With the OG Chicago colourway dropping in late 2022, the second Air Jordan silhouette currently enjoys non-stop collabs.
Luxury fashion became the main inspiration for the Air Jordan 2. Lacking a Swoosh, the shoe made up for its premium construction headlined by faux lizard textures.
While not as popular as the Air Jordans 1, 3, and 4, it’s nice to see the Air Jordan 2 get its comeback. Not to mention Jordan Brand pushing more love for the shoe with collabs such as this one.
The Air Jordan 2 Retro Low x Two 18 “Rocky Tan” features a Rocky Tan nubuck base with Brown suede hits on the lateral rear. Pebble-like materials cover the medial rear for an added touch.
Hints of Blue and Red appear on the midfoot outlines.
The outsole features a translucent icy sole that transitions to a seemingly rusty look on the heel. Detroit’s map appears on the sockliner as a nod to the city.
