Nike Air Max 1 "Treeline" DR9773-300

This is what you get when Air Max Day and Nike SB’s popular 4/20 celebration collide. The Nike Air Max 1 “Treeline” brings subtle references to the Nike SB Dunk High “Skunk” from 2010. Although there’s no word about an official 4/20 theme, it’s nice to see the Nike Air Max 1 showcase colour versatility. Definitely going to be a must-cop pair for Air Max’s 35th anniversary.

You know the year’s going to be special when Nike introduced limited regional-exclusive pairs of an Air Max. Celebrating Air Max technology’s 35th year in the market, Nike put out special colourways including a collab with Concepts. With that said, this new colourway is quite a surprise considering its resemblance with Nike SB’s annual 4/20-themed sneakers; specifically the Nike SB Dunks.

1987 was the year of its birth, and it completely changed everything. The Nike Air Max 1 saw the debut of Air Max technology, which almost instantly caught the attention of the sports community.

With running performance in mind, the Nike Air Max 1 utilised Nike co-founder and track coach legend Bill Bowerman’s waffle sole. The PU sole holds the shoe together, and inside that sole right on the heel portion, a “window” appears. This window is actually an Air unit, but this time exposed for better cushioning thanks to an unrestrictive compression.

Mesh makes up the base of the shoe; while either leather or suede covers the overlays and mudguard; depending on the colourway.

This Nike Air Max 1 “Treeline” features fuzzy suede overlays in Green and Purple reminiscent of the Nike SB Dunk High “Skunk”. However, a Tan mesh base with Beige leather overlays leans to the more nature-themed approach.

The Sail White PU sole houses the Air Max; while the Black rubber outsole finishes off the bottom half of the shoe.

With rumours circulating for an April 2022 release because of 4/20 hues; keep an eye out for future updates regarding its official date.
