Look who’s making a big comeback in 2022! When we talk about vintage basketball shoes from Nike, we usually put Dunks, AF1 and the Air Jordan 1 in the spotlight. But returning for the first time since 2014, the Nike Terminator High sets for a nostalgic drop. This Nike Terminator High OG “Georgetown” is arguably the most popular colourway, worn by the Georgetown Hoyas Basketball Team. While it lacks the “HOYA” lettering spread across the heel, it’s still nice to see a classic come back.
What better way to welcome a decades-old sneaker that to bring its most iconic colourway? Many may have forgotten the Nike Terminator, but sneaker collectors know what’s up. This shoe belongs in the same group as the Nike Dunk and Jordan 1; all 1985 basketball sneaker icons.
Originally released in 1985, the Nike Terminator almost shares the same aesthetics as a Nike Dunk. But distinguishable features such as the thick ankle collar and large NIKE lettering on the heel give the shoe its own identity. Notable US NCAA college basketball teams like Georgetown, Michigan, and St. John’s wore Terminator Highs.
Herringbone traction patterns complete the design of the rubber outsole for that reliable grip.
Now back since 2014, we can see the Nike Terminator High looking to regain its rather lost popularity.
This Nike Terminator High OG “Georgetown” features a Grey leather upper with Obsidian Navy overlays. Reminiscent of the Georgetown Hoyas uniform colours, Sail White accents on the shoe give this a vintage touch.
Expect the shoe to arrive this November 2022 on the Nike UK website. We can hope that old and new colourways will also release.
