Air Jordan 8

Upgrades, upgrades, and more upgrades. Tinker Hatfield and Nike kept on finding new ways to deliver awesome basketball shoes for MJ as time goes by. After two straight NBA Championships and the Chicago Bulls gunning for a three-peat, Tinker went back to the drawing board. The Air Jordan 8 became the third championship sneaker of Michael Jordan.

Fans of MJ and the Bulls can also remember that the AJ8 concluded the first era of Jordan’s career as he retired months after the Finals. The shoe became cemented in sneaker history, not only because of its popularity but also because of its performance.

The Air Jordan 8 features cross straps on the midfoot, the first time for any Air Jordan to utilise straps. This improved the fit and added more support as the strap extends to the rear. The unique design also strayed away from the similar looks of the Air Jordans 6 and 7.

Another first for the Jordan line is the Phylon midsole. Inside the foam midsole, Nike Air units in the heel and forefoot provide bouncy cushioning.

Round craters comprise the rubber outsole once again, decoupled just like its predecessor.

The most popular colourway is arguably the “Hare” rendition, inspired by MJ’s Space Jam “c0-star” Bugs Bunny.

This shoe celebrates Michael Jordan’s first three-peat before retiring for the first time. It was a performance beast during its time and the straps resonate with the continuous improvement of Air Jordan models.

Various Player Exclusive colourways saw impressive Air Jordan 8 colourways. With the lack of general releases in the past few years, we can only hope Jordan Brand brings us some OG styles.
